How report scoring works
This article explains how myITprocess generates scoring in reports. Understanding this process can help you design questions more effectively.
The total possible score represents the maximum score that can be achieved, while the actual score is calculated based on the number of questions, the weight of priority assigned to each question, and the vCIO’s answer.
The primary factor influencing the score is the priority assigned to each question. To learn how to configure questions in the Standards Library, refer to Adding a question in Using the Standards Library.
EXAMPLE If you have 10 questions, and each question is assigned a priority of High (worth 5 points), the maximum possible score is 50 points. Achieving all 50 points would result in a 100% score on the report (50/50 = 100%). If those same 10 questions were instead assigned a priority of Medium, the maximum possible score is 30 points.
Priority weighting
Priorities affect scoring by weighting each question according to its importance. The priority values are as follows:
| Priority | Score |
|---|---|
| High | 5 points |
| Medium | 3 points |
| Low | 1 point |
The priority acts as a multiplier that determines how much each question contributes to the total score.
vCIO answer impact
The vCIO's answer determines how many points are awarded, based on business alignment:
| vCIO Answer | Points Awarded |
|---|---|
| Aligned with Best Practice | 100% |
| Marginal | 50% |
| Highly Vulnerable | 0% |
Combined scoring matrix
When the priority and the vCIO response are combined, scoring is calculated as follows:
| vCIO Answer | High | Medium | Low |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aligned with Best Practice | 5/5 | 3/3 | 1/1 |
| Marginal | 2.5/5 | 1.5/3 | 0.5/1 |
| Highly Vulnerable | 0/5 | 0/3 | 0/1 |
